World Cup Update - After 12/2 Matches

And just like that, the field has narrowed to 16!  The final 4 teams to book their trips to the knockouts today were Portugal, South Korea, Brazil, and Switzerland.

Group G had one highlight game coming in, with Serbia and Switzerland playing for 2nd place, and a berth in the knockout round.  It didn't disappoint, as Switzerland came out on top of a wild 3-2 that was clearly emotionally charged for both sides, claiming 2nd in the group.  The loss seemed to affect other notable Serbians as well, as I watched Nikola Jokić practically sleep through the 1st half against the Hawks tonight!  Cameroon managed to get a 1-0 win against a heavily rotated Brazil, punctuated with a hilarious sending off of goalscorer Vincent Aboubakar for taking his shirt off celebrating...his second yellow.  Brazil finished 1st in the group.

Group H was another group down to the wire, as South Korea broke a 1-1 tie with Portugal late in the match to send them through in 2nd place, edging out Uruguay (won 2-0 against Ghana).  If the Uruguayans were to be able to find a 3rd goal, they'd have gone through over Korea, but Ghana defended stoutly (although seemingly, mostly out of spite) and prevented such an outcome.
