World Cup Update - RO16 Day 3

Day 3 of round of 16 games entailed 2 teams booking their quarterfinals spots.... one in dramatic fashion and one not so dramatically.  Croatia and Brazil advance.

Game 1 today pitted Group E winners Japan against Group F runners up Croatia.  Japan jumped out to an early lead and seemed to be in control of the game, until a 2nd half goal from Ivan Perišić evened things up at 1-1.  A relatively uneventful extra time led to our first penalty shootout of the competition, and this one starred Croatian keeper Dominik Livaković who saved 3 Japanese penalties en route to a victory, and a spot in the Quarterfinal to play Brazil.

Game 2 matched Group G winners England against Group H runners up South Korea.  This game ended with very little to question between the two teams, as Brazil jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute thanks to Vinicius Júnior's goal, and got worse from there.  Brazil cruised on to a 4-0 victory over the underdog Korean side, en route to a date with Croatia in the Quarterfinal.
